Afghanistan: Police detain 14 people over drug smuggling accusations


(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Feb. 24, the Ministry of Interior stated in a declaration that Afghan police have detained 14 persons on an accusation of drug smuggling from across the militancy-plagued state.

One supposed drug trafficker in Kabul, two in Badakhshan, seven in Nangarhar, two in Faryab, one in Daykundi and one in Smanagan provinces have been detained throughout the last couple of days, said the declaration.

The declaration stressed that police have found a great amount of illegal drugs comprising 27 kg opium poppy, 1 kg heroin, two pistols and an amount of local currency afghani have also been seized from the control of captured people.

The declaration added that police would carry on clearing out drug traffickers elsewhere in Afghanistan.
