Oil leak from Israeli tanker spills to Lebanese waters

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Beirut, Feb 22 (Petra) –– A leak from an Israeli oil tanker has reached Lebanon's southern coast, according to Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab.
A statement by the Prime Minister's office said that Diab assigned his defence and environment ministers and the National Centre for Scientific Research to follow up on the matter with the UN peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) and file an official report on damage from the leak.
Lebanese authorities have monitored black chunks of a slick on the beach south of the city of Tyre, part of the country's natural reserve.
