Algeria's president announces dissolution of country's lower chamber of parliament


(MENAFN)The suspension of the country's lower chamber of parliament, the National People's Assembly were proclaimed by Algeria's president, and that they will hold parliamentary elections.

A government rearrange would be held within 48 hours, stated Abdelmadjid Tebboune during a televised address.

The president's speech came with the Day of the Martyr, which honored those who fought and martyred in the North African nation's resistance movement against French colonialism.

In addition to the Day of the Martyr, the speech came with improved calls for protests to spot the second anniversary of popular demonstrations that ended the 20-year rule of Tebboune's predecessor, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
