Doha: More than 100,000 people have been taken the COVID-19 vaccine in the country, according to a senior health official.
Head of Vaccination at Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Dr Soha Al Bayat, said: 'I'm happy to say that more than 100,000 have been taken the vaccine; there is high demand for it. And we have reached at least 50% of the target group.
'And in coming days we hope to see more and more people getting vaccinated, she said in a live Instagram question and answer session hosted by the Ministry.
Al Bayat urged everyone to register through the MoPH website.
'You will only be contacted once you meet the eligible criteria of the vaccination campaign. For example, if you are 30 years old, well and healthy, they will not contact you yet, once your category comes up during the campaign you will be contacted and you will be able to get an appointment, she said.
Dr Al Bayat also clarified that COVID-19 vaccine is free and if you don't have a health card there will be a nominal charge for registration purpose but not for the vaccine.
