QFA, Qatar Shell launch 9th season of Koora Time


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Shell have launched the 9th season of Koora Time, the sustainable initiative that has improved the health and wellbeing of over 150,000 youth across Qatar since its inception in 2012.  

A fully virtual programme was designed to conduct the new season to accommodate for the safety measures.

Koora Time is introducing an online training platform called Koora Time's Coaches Zone. A platform that will teach the coaches from anywhere in the world offering courses and tests to learners, track their performance and analyze their results.

In season 9, Koora Time aims to provide 44 hours of physical activity and education per child through football, over the 11-week season, as well as education on healthy habits such as nutrition. 

The newly refreshed methodology was developed in collaboration with the initiative's partners; Aspire Academy and FC Barcelona Foundation. 

The methodology will include improved football skills and drills. In addition to the newly added self-development programme and sports ethics aspects. 

In recognition of its positive impact on the health of youth, Koora Time has won local and international awards. 

Last year, Koora Time won the silver award for Corporate Engagement Awards bringing the total to 13 awards since its inception in 2012. 

In season 8, Koora Time averaged 3,500 participants weekly. A total of 53% of Koora Time participants were girls, reflecting the positive role of women in sport and further supporting female empowerment in Qatar. 

By the end of the season Koora Time has introduced a virtual football challenge to stimulate a healthy lifestyle during the COVID-19 challenges and to conclude last season.

A ten-year sustainable initiative between Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Shell, Koora Time is designed to improve the health and wellbeing of Qatar's youth through football.

This initiative aims to facilitate access to more football in a non-competitive environment, supporting an active and healthy lifestyle amongst the young people in Qatar. As part of the ten-year campaign, QFA and Qatar Shell will jointly organise and launch a series of youth engagement programmes using football as the platform.
