(MENAFN) On Friday, Jan. 29, fresh procedures against coronavirus, comprising the banning of Canadian flights to all Caribbean destinations and Mexico were declared by Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trudeau stated at a press symposium in Ottawa: "with the challenges we currently face with COVID-19, both here at home and abroad, we all agree that now is just not the time to be flying." He added: "by putting in place these tough measures now, we can look forward to a better time."
He noted that the country's principle airlines, comprising Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing and Air Transat, will suspend their air services to all Caribbean destinations and Mexico, as of this Sunday until April 30 of 2021.
Trudeau also summarized a new compulsory coronavirus testing requirement at Canada's airports for inbound people. They are forced to quarantine for three days at a chosen hotel on their own expense, which he noted is "expected to be more than 2,000 Canadian dollars."
