Jordan- King's efforts worked to resume restoration of Al-Aqsa Mosque-RCJA

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Jan. 28 (Petra) - Secretary-General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA), Abdullah Kanaan, said the Jordanian diplomacy, under the direct directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, has successfully resumed the reconstruction and restoration work at the Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif, which indicates that the Hashemite guardianship protects sanctities, and Arab identity of Jerusalem.
In a press statements to "Petra," Thursday, Kanaan added that Jordan has participated in drafting several international legitimacy resolutions, issued by the United Nations and its organizations, which affirms that the Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif are fully owned by Muslims, with a total area of 144 dunums.
The diplomatic success stems from Jordan's diplomacy, based on credibility and its historic position, calling for necessity of a two-state solution and the establishment of the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders, he pointed out.
The Hashemite guardianship over Islamic and Christian holy sanctities will remain an active player in strengthening the Jerusalemites' steadfastness, and has protected the Arab cultural identity of the city, by exceuting the Hashemite reconstruction projects for Islamic and Christian holy sites that began in 1924 and are still continuing until today, he said.
This effort, he noted, is also added to Jordan's cultural, economic, educational and health projects and support made by the official and popular Jordanian institutions provided to Palestinian people.
In light of the Israeli occupation measures, and attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and other Islamic and Christian holy sites, Jordan has remained the defender of Palestinian rights and supports the Jerusalemites' steadfastness , regardless of the sacrifices, according to Kanaan.
