The output indicator, a major gauge of state manufacturing circumstances, dropped from 26.8 to 4.6 in January, marking a severe deceleration in production expansion, demonstrated the Dallas Fed's most recent Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey.

Another gauges of manufacturing performance also showed more muted expansion in January, said business executives responding to the survey. The indexes of new orders, the expansion rate of orders, capability utilization and shipment all declined this month.
