Kuwait Nat'l football team arrives in Iraq for friendly match


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Basra, Jan 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwait National Football team arrived Monday to Iraq for a friendly match on Wednesday in preparation for the resumption of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
Kuwait Football Association (KFA) Chief Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah expressed his gratitude upon their arrival to the friendly Iraqi lands, where the Kuwaiti delegation have been received warmly by Iraq's Sport Minister Adnan Darjal accompanied by Kuwait's Consul to Iraq Badah Al-Dousari alongside several Iraqi officials.
KFA Chief expressed hopes that this match benefits both teams for the upcoming qualifiers, as he noted that this game was an invitation from the Iraqi Sport Minister to evaluate Iraq's readiness to host the upcoming 25th Gulf Cup in Al-Basra City.
On his part, the Iraqi Minister said that the Kuwaiti delegation's visit sends messages of love and trust, and many indications.
"The arrival of this big Kuwaiti delegation with all its star players, managers, administrators and media indicates contentment and trust shared between the two countries, and the game on Wednesday will be pleasing on the eye because of the big history of the two teams." added the minister. (end)
