(MENAFN) On Saturday, Jan. 23, local authorities stated that Beijing's rail transit network is projected to stand at 1,600 km by 2025, making up for 56 percent of the megacity's public transportation.
Beijing's mayor Chen Jining revealed the objective in the administration work report at the current fourth session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People's Congress.
The capital city's urban rail transit mileage stood at 727 km, and another 400 km of rail network was constructed in the suburbs by the end of 2020, showed the report.
Chen noted that the city will launch seven new urban rail segments in the current year, adjoining the total urban rail transit mileage to 781 km by the end of the present year.
