Over 3,500 active Covid-19 cases in Qatar on Jan 21


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) today reported 258 new cases of coronavirus (Coivd-19) and 128 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 144,478.

Out of the 258 new cases, 221 are community cases and 37 from travellers returning from abroad.

Till now 248 people succumbed to the virus in Qatar, which is one of the lowest in the world.

The total number of positive Covid-19 cases recorded in Qatar is 148,258 and there are 3,532 active cases under treatment. 

6,221 people were tested for the first time in the last 24 hours (10,342 tests in total) taking the total tests done so far to 1,340,046 tests.

There are 52 cases of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours taking the total number of patients in the hospital to 347.

Six were admitted to intensive care in the last 24 hours, and so 33 people continue to receive medical attention in ICU.

While the restrictions of COVID-19 are gradually being lifted in Qatar, it is important for everyone to play their role in controlling the virus by following precautionary measures:
- Adherence to physical distancing
- Avoid close contact with others, crowded places, and confined closed spaces where other people congregate
- Wearing a face mask
- Washing hands regularly
