Israel invites tenders to build a new settlement near Nablus

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Ramallah, Jan 19 (Petra) –– Settlement construction firms have floated tenders to build new settler homes close to the Jewish settlement of Itamar east of the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.
The Yediot Ahronoth daily said Tuesday that the new settlement, which will be built with permanent foundations not prefabricated homes, consists of dozens of houses, each up to 150 square meters with a garden, adding that the new units are currently offered for sale even before construction begins.
The announcement came one day after the military authorities greenlighted the construction of 792 settler units, most of which in the northern West Bank, including the Itamar settlement.
Some 13 settlements and 55 settler outposts dot hilltops near Nablus, which are connected by 104-KM settler bypass roads that destroyed 10,393 dunums of Palestinian-owned lands.
The occupation authority has also set up 24 military camps on Nablus lands and imposes closures on 80 areas.
