Russia: Cargo boat sinks off Turkey's Black Sea


(MENAFN)Two crew associates passed away and six others went missing on Sunday, January 17th when a Russian cargo ship sank off the coast of Turkey's Black Sea province of Bartin, the state-run Anadolu Agency revealed.

Bartin Governor Sinan Guner stated that Turkish rescue teams initiated an operation soon after the Russian-flagged dry freight ship named Arvin sank off the Inkumu region, Anadolu stated.

Guner added that there were 13 crew associates, all Russian nationals, on the ship, and the rescue teams have so far found two dead bodies and saved five others.

The reason of the incident was not clear, the agency stated, adding that the rescue operation is continuing.
