(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In 2020, Ukraine increased exports of vegetable and animal fats by 22% and remained the largest sunflower oil exporter to the European Union.
"As for vegetable and animal fats, Ukraine increased exports of these products by 22%. This growth was achieved primarily due to the growth of sunflower production, domestic processing and increased sales of oil to Asian countries. Ukraine also remains the largest sunflower oil exporter to the European Union, the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club posted on Facebook.
It is noted that the export of agricultural products, despite the difficult 2020, remains the most stable in Ukraine. The main export items are cereal crops, animal and vegetable fats and oils, oleaginous seeds and fruits, residues and wastes from food industries, meat and edible meat offal.
Thus, cereal crops remain the main group of goods in agricultural exports, despite a slight decrease in sales by 2% compared to 2019 caused by the drop in yields due to drought in the central and southern regions of Ukraine.
Export of oilseeds in 2020 decreased by 28% compared to 2019 due to the drop in production of soybeans and rapeseed. Export of residues and wastes from food industries increased by 6%. Meat and edible meat offal decreased by 8%, partly due to EU's quarantine restrictions on poultry meat.
