(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Qatar Custom Show (QCS) 2021 kicked off on Thursday (January 14), featuring hundreds of customised cars, trucks, and motorbikes at the Qatar Racing Club (QRC).
'There are more participants this year, compared to the previous edition, and this proves to be a successful and well-organised event, QCS founder and organiser Khalid al-Hammadi told Gulf Times.
He thanked QRC president HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani, as well as Al Asmakh Holdings, for hosting and fully supporting the latest edition of QCS organised by Soul Riders Motorcycles Club which is showcasing 110 cars and 80 motorbikes.
Al-Hammadi lauded participants and visitors for adhering to the health and safety protocols at the show such as showing a green code on their Ehteraz mobile app and mandatory wearing of face masks aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19.
The three-day event, which will conclude on Saturday (January 16), is open from 3pm to 10pm. It provides an opportunity for custom car and motorbike owners to showcase their designs, and a chance to win in the competition. Entry is free-of-charge.
As part of QCS, hundreds of bikers will also take part in the ‘Thank You Kuwait' motorbike parade on Friday (January 15) at 2pm at Qatar Sports Club (QSC).
The parade, aimed at recognising the efforts of Kuwait in ending the diplomatic rift, will course through the Doha Corniche going to the airport road before concluding at QRC, according to the organisers.
Meanwhile, QCS will also witness the awarding of winners of the competition in a number of categories for vehicles on Friday (January 15). Winning images for the show's photography contest will be announced on the concluding day Saturday (January 16).
The event also highlights the artistic side and creativity of participants as they display their unique and varying designs at the show.
Organisers noted that vehicle customisation in Qatar continues to become increasingly popular among residents, who spend a lot of time and effort in making their cars and bikes even more attractive.
It is learnt that it takes builders at least a year to prepare and finish a certain project either it is a bike, car, or a truck for an event such as QCS. They travel to different countries such as the US and Europe to look for vehicles (from engine to tyres and other parts) and bring it to Qatar for customisation.
Al-Hammadi expressed confidence that QCS will expand and attract more enthusiasts in its next editions, including those in other GCC countries.
