Jordan- 5 new stations launched to provide Covid-19 shots in Mafraq, says health director


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Mafraq, Jan.14 (Petra)-Director of Mafraq Health Affairs, Hani Alimat, said 5 new stations were launched in the southern governorate to offer Covid-19 jabs to citizens and Syrian refugees.
In a press statement to "Petra" on Thursday, he added that the vaccination operations for those registered on the gov't platform are expected to start in the new vaccination facilities, including two in Zaatari refugee camp, at the beginning of next week.
On Wednesday, 58 citizens were vaccinated, and the immunization process will continue in the coming days, whether for Jordanians or Syrian refugees, at all the governotaye's stations approved for this purpose, according to Alimat.
Moreover, 43 Syrian refugees, who had registered on the platform were vaccinated today, he said, adding the campaign will continue over the coming days.
For his part, UNHCR Public Health Officer, Iyad Shatat, said the anti-coronavirus vaccine is given free of charge to citizens and refugees alike, as the Syrian refugees were included under the immunization umbrella according to the priorities set by the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Mohammad Abu Khudair of the Middle East Network for Community Health, said the vaccination process for Syrian refugees was "smoothly carried out," indicating that coordination had been made with the Ministry of Health, Zaatari camp administration and UNHCR to commute refugees to the stations.
