(MENAFN)An important figure in the Palestinian Fatah movement expressed thanks to Turkey for efforts to terminate political division in the country.
Rajoub’s office declared that Jibril Rajoub, Secretary General of Fatah's Central Committee, gathered with Turkey's Consul General in Jerusalem, Ahmet Rıza Demirer, in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
He further said that “We are grateful to Turkey for its strong support to an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
Hamas and rival Fatah have waited at probabilities since Hamas detained the Gaza Strip from Fatah in 2007 after numerous days of fighting.
