Mardi Gras in New Orleans will look a little different this year. The walking, dancing, marching, and rolling parades will be missed by children and adults alike, but the opportunity to make Mardi Gras magic is available to all. New Orleans-based, arts education non-profit, KID smART, invites revelers of all ages to explore the music, movement and visuals that bring Mardi Gras to life through a series of interactive, virtual events. The Krewe of You series allows all to celebrate Mardi Gras safely while learning about the rich cultural heritage of New Orleans Carnival.
Students, families, and educators are invited to join via Zoom each Tuesday between January 12th and February 9th from 4:30-5:30pm CT. Each lesson and activity led by KID smART Teaching Artists will focus on a particular aspect of Mardi Gras krewes. Carnival culture bearers will give their perspective on the importance of each element and tradition.

Build your krewe's floats with special guests from the Krewe of King Arthur
MARDI GRAS DANCE | Tuesday, February 2nd | 4:30-5:30pm CT
Choreograph your krewe's dance with special guests from the Camel Toe Lady Steppers
MARDI GRAS COSTUMES | Tuesday, February 9th | 4:30-5:30pm CT
Craft your krewe's costume pieces with a special guest from the Krewe of Red Beans
