Jordan- Anjara community garden receives face lift

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) together with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), completed the renovation works of a community garden in Anjara area in Ajloun.

Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the project employed 345 workers in Ajloun to renovate the tourist corridors and Ajloun Forest Reserve's organic farm, according to an RSCN statement sent to The Jordan Times on Wednesday.

As part of the project, aimed at improving green infrastructure in the Kingdom through implementing labour-intensive procedures, renovation work was carried out by the RSCN and GIZ, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment.

'The project aims to create job opportunities for Jordanians and Syrians, in addition to enlarging green areas,' RSCN Director General Yahya Khaled said in the statement.

The labourers received a range of benefits, most notably that they were registered with the social security during the operational period, in addition to their pay, according to the statement.

The workers were also provided vocational training programmes, which assisted them in gaining experience, in addition to enhancing their capacities, according to the statement.

Ajloun Mayor Salman Najada said in the statement that 'RSCN's project contributed to developing and supporting the local communities, through creating job opportunities for the residents of the area and developing tourist facilities in Ajloun'.

He also added that the project has a 'clear impact' on the nature and society.
