Brazil: GDP recovers 7.7 percent

(MENAFN) The state-run Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) stated on Thursday, that Brazil's economy recovered by 7.7 percent in the third quarter compared with the second.

Yet, the expansion ratio, a hard-won result after the pandemic-triggered reduction, is still lower than the average 8.8 percent forecast by fiscal analysts, and fails to make up for the year's losses.

Latin America's biggest financial system, affected hard by coronavirus, witnessed its economy fall into a depression following two successive quarters of reduction this year.

On Wednesday, Brazil's coronavirus death toll hit 174,515, after 698 more patients passed away in the last 24 hours, the country's health ministry stated.
