Kuwait- Katara's 10th Traditional Dhow Festival kicks off in Qatar


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- Katara 10th Traditional Dhow Festival kicked off on Tuesday, reviving the tradition of forefathers, attended by Arab and Western delegations including the State of Kuwait.
Director General of the Cultural Village Foundation Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, in remarks at the opening of the festival, due until Saturday, said the event celebrated "the tradition of forefathers in Qatar and participating countries, and is indeed a festival for the marine tradition."
He said the festival was held despite extraordinary circumstances due to the coronavirus pandemic and preventive measures, but it showed how Qatar was pursuing its quest to highlight tradition of the Gulf country and other nations.
Al-Sulaiti said the festival raised awareness about Qatar's sea tradition at Arab and global stages.
The festival includes many activities like workshops on the construction of ships and handicrafts. (end)
