Colombia: Unemployment rate hits 14.7 pct, October


(MENAFN) According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) on Monday, Nov. 30, the unemployment rate in Colombia recorded 14.7 percent during October, almost 5 percentage points over the rate recorded in the very month last year, when it was at 9.8 percent.

The agency stated that, the rate dropped in comparison with climax-pandemic months.

The DANE stated in a declaration: "the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate nationwide was 16.2 percent in September 2020; in August, 17 percent; in July, 19.7 percent; in June, 20.7 percent; and in May, 21.1 percent."

The health emergency announced because of the novel COVID-19 was prolonged by Colombia's President Ivan Duque in the past week until Feb. 28, but also prolonged procedures to facilitate reactivation of the economy, such as guidelines demanding for social distancing and individual responsibility.
