Jordan denounces Israel's proposal to build new settlements

(MENAFN) State-run Petra news agency reported that Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday condemned Israel's approval to establish some 540 new settlement units in East Jerusalem.

The stated settlements violate the international law and UN resolutions, chiefly the UN Security Council Resolution 2334, according to Jordan's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Daifallah Fayez.

The official further expressed that Israel's settlement policy delays the procedure of peacemaking and conflict resolution, "destroying" any opportunity for the two-state solution.

He also urged the international community to bear the responsibility of pressuring Israel into ceasing its violations.
