Uzbekistan initiates rural improvement scheme


(MENAFN) The Uzbek Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction stated on Wednesday, November 25, Uzbekistan will apply a USD183.6-million scheme to increase rural infrastructure with the support of the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

It will be employed from 2020 to 2024 in Jizzakh, Syrdarya, Ferghana, Namangan, and Andijan to cover 21 regions and more than 300 villages in these five areas, the ministry stated.

The scheme will be backed with a credit of 100 million dollars from the World Bank, a loan worth USD82 million from the AIIB and a local donation of USD1.6 million dollars from the Uzbek government, it added.
