Three Iraqi soldiers killed in terrorist ambush


(MENAFN)According to a security source, more than three security officers were pronounced dead Sunday in an attack by the Daesh/ISIS militant group in Iraq's western Anbar province.

Agency cited Police Captain Ahmed Duleymi as saying that the vehicle loaded by the dead officers was exploded as members of the militia trapped it ambushed in the Al Sakar area,
Duleymi further revealed that the militants also took a truck driver hostage, whose fate is still mysterious.

Over recent months, suspected Daesh/ISIS militants have stepped up attacks, particularly in Kirkuk, Salahuddin, and Diyala provinces, known as the "Triangle of Death."

In 2017, Iraq declared victory over Daesh/ISIS by reclaiming all of its territory occupied by the terrorist group in 2014, which accounted for about a third of the country"s area.
