Iraq, Saudi Arabia reopen Ar'ar crossing for trade movement


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- Iraq and Saudi Arabia have reopened Ar'ar border crossing to resume movement of goods between the two countries, Iraq's borders authority said Wednesday.
The reopning of Ar'ar crossing was attended by Iraq's Interior Minister Othman Al-Ghanmi and Saudi Ambassador in Baghdad Abdulaziz Al-Shemmeri, as well as senior officials, it added in a statement.
Ar'ar crossing has been closed for trade for some three decades and was only opened for Iraqi pilgrims heading to Saudi Arabia.
The Iraq-Saudi higher committee decided a week ago to reopen the crossing. (end) ahh.bs
