(MENAFN- NewsIn.Asia) Colombo, November 11 (newsin.asia) – The number of coronavirus patients detected in Sri Lanka crossed the 15,000 mark today as another 635 new cases have been detected within the day (11).
The total number of confirmed cases stands at 15,350 with 5,121 active cases across the island according to the Health Promotion Bureau. 10,183 cases have recovered so far with 46 deaths reported.
Earlier in the day, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had advised the authorities to take measures of preventing people to leave the Western Province which has a majority of Covid19 positive patients.
The Health Authority immediately reacted to the above by not granting Sri Lanka Railways permission for trains to leave Western Province from 10 PM today until 15th November.
Army Commander Shavendra Silva also stated that people are not allowed to leave Western Province with immediate effect. Although, no restrictions have been imposed on individuals entering the Province.
