(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto on Monday said the international community in upcoming Geneva Conference would reaffirm its strong financial and political support for the Afghan government and people.
Haavisto, who called on President Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace, was accompanied by a level delegation, a statement from the Palace said.
The Finnish foreign minister expressed his condolences over recent terrorist attacks in Afghanistan and said the bloodshed in the war-torn country must end.
He said the international community besides its emphases over the protection of the past 19 years achievements would further stress on the empowerment of women rights, children rights and democracy in Afghanistan.
Haavisto also assured President Ghani of his country's future contribution in the development projects in Afghanistan.
Ghani hailed multi-dimensional support from the world community and added: 'We have strong determination to protect the achievements and developments of the past 19 years.
He said the Taliban should hear the voices of the people of Afghanistan and international community and reconcile. He reaffirmed government's commitment to peace and stability in the country.
'We are ready to talk with the international community in Geneva Conference on market, peace and state building. In addition, the government would brief the world on its successes in the areas of economic development and self-reliance. (Pajhwok)
