Iran to import basic goods


(MENAFN) IRNA broadcasted that the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has budgeted USD6.124 billion for importing essential merchandise and medicine in the first seven months of the present Iranian calendar year (March 20-October 21).

The CBI office of public relations has released that it was the responsibility of the ministries of industry, agriculture, and health to determine the key factors that played a role in picking what is considered essential merchandise, like type and amount.

CBI data portrays that the bank plans to provide a total of USD8 billion for the imports of essential goods in the present Iranian calendar year, of which USD5.5 billion is going towards consumable supplies like corn, oilseeds, rough oil, meal, barley and wheat, wherein more than USD1.5 billion will be going towards imports of medicine, and almost USD1 billion is going towards imports of medical equipment.

As stated by CBI, till now most of the budget made by the bank has been used to bring in the mentioned above consumable supplies.
