Int'l conference to discuss post-Covid Jordanian economy

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 25 (Petra) – The Jordan Society for Scientific Research, Entrepreneurship, and Creativity (JSSR) will Saturday (Oct. 31) organize an international conference discussing the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the Jordanian economy and opportunities for growth and recovery.
The sixth edition of the International Economic Conference is co-organized in cooperation with the University of Petra, the JSSR said in a statement Sunday, calling on all economists and pundits to join the Zoom-powered event.
It added that the conference aims to shed light on all the economic, social and logistical impacts caused by the coronavirus pandemic, highlight opportunities and review crisis management policies.
JSSR President Dr. Rida Khawaldeh said the Jordanian economy has suffered, like other world economies, from the fallout of the pandemic, especially at the onset of the crisis when blanket lockdowns were introduced.
While acknowledging the heavy economic and financial aftermath of the pandemic, Khawaldeh explained that the crisis has offered new opportunities to think "out of the box".
Khawaldeh, a former minister and academic, said the event will also address the social protection and solidarity, the acceleration of digitization and the psychosocial impact of the crisis.
The outcome and recommendations of the conference will be forwarded to the prime minister and key stakeholders to use in post-COVID economic management.
