(MENAFN) The Rwandan Foreign Minister Vincent Biruta on Tuesday, October 20, encountered his Burundian equivalent Albert Shingiro at Nemba One Stop Border Post to develop ties, which have been intense since 2015.
The assembly comes hardly two months after the assembly of military intelligence leaders from Rwanda and Burundi that was held at the same border post. It is the first of its type since 2015 when the relations between the two states became worsened after Burundi blamed Rwanda of hosting and supporting performers of the 2015 coup plot against then Burundian Leader Pierre Nkurunziza.
Biruta stated while opening the assembly "Rwanda is willing to play its part to improve bilateral relations with Burundi to enable the citizens of the two countries to coexist as before".
The two adjoining states share a lot in ordinary in terms of culture, language, and the two peoples are more than neighbors but brothers and sisters, he stated, who called the meeting "a big step" towards enhancing the joint ties.
