Turkish forces kills 6 members of YPGin N, Syria


(MENAFN) The Turkish defense ministries said Saturday in a statement that six insurgents affiliated with the Syrian Kurdish People"s Protection Units (YPG) were killed as Turkish security personnel attacked a region in northern Syria.

The ministerial statement also revealed that "Six YPG/PKK terrorists, who opened harassing fire at the Operation Euphrates Shield zone and attempted to infiltrate, have been neutralized by our heroic commandos."

Turkish officials frequently use the term "neutralized" in their statements to refer to the extremists in inquiry surrendered or were killed or captured.

With the purpose of creating a YPG-free zone along its border within the neighboring Syrian nation, the Turkish army launched Operation Euphrates Shield in 2016, Operation Olive Branch in 2018, Operation Peace Spring in 2019, and Operation Spring Shield in 2020.
