(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: On the occasion of the World Statistics Day, the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA), in cooperation with the International Labour Organization (ILO), will hold a virtual workshop on October 19 on the impact of quarantine measures in light of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic on labour market monitoring.
A number of the ministries, agencies and organisations producing and using labour statistics will participate in this workshop.
The workshop aims to enhance the participants' ability to understand the essential contents of the Labour Force Survey and the treatment of special groups amid the restrictions imposed to contain COVID-19, as well as to define and measure remote work through electronic means at home.
Participants will discuss the fundamental changes in global markets due to the pandemic and the implementation of the Labour Force Survey, and will also discuss remote work concepts.
Participants will learn about labour statistics standards, improved measures for market monitoring and priority data collection items. Further, the workshop will also highlight the importance of the identification of the workplace and its use in the Labor Force Survey and scheduling results according to the ILO-adopted concepts.
President of the Planning and Statistics Authority, H E Dr. Saleh bin Muhammad Al Nabit, hailed the existing partnership between PSA and ILO in the area of labour statistics and related family surveys.
He also urged all partners in relevant ministries and government agencies to benefit from the activities of this workshop. It is worth mentioning that the World Statistics Day falls on October 20 and is celebrated every five years.
