Qatar- DFI to hold first podcast lab


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha Film Institute (DFI) has announced that it will hold its first Podcast Lab in collaboration with the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the largest and longest-running not-for-profit dedicated to independent film.

To be conducted online, DFI-IFP Podcast Lab 2020 is 'a fantastic opportunity for you to learn about this increasingly popular digital content platform, reads a social media post by DFI.

Podcast has become a trend which continues to grow every year. This year alone, it was found that over 155 million people listen to a podcast every week. And as the world becomes busier, podcast has become a very popular format since audio content makes it possible for people to dive into topics  without having to set aside time.

DFI said the new programme will 'provide participants with the knowledge, resources, and mentor support for developing their project both creatively, through story development and sound editing workshops; and strategically, with discussions on industry landscape, pitching, marketing, and releasing their audio project in today's audio landscape.

The participants will specifically learn the basics of audio storytelling and the art of creating and producing distinctive audio podcasts. 

At the end of the programme, participants are expected to have an enhanced understanding of the global podcasting landscape and its key players. 

They will also receive tips on tools, funding models, audience development, distribution, and gain insights on how they can measure their success.

A total of six to eight participating projects will be selected for the workshop which is open to participants who must be from Qatar or the MENA region interested in entering the podcast Industry.

Those who wish to join the workshop whose projects are in later stages of development must have a pilot script, show trailer, or sample audio while those participants in early stages of development should have a comparable proof of concept detailing their ideas.
