Qatar- QU, Lusail University sign MoU for academic cooperation


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Qatar University (QU) and Lusail University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in academic, research, administrative and technical fields.

The MoU was signed by QU Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Omar Al Ansari and Vice-President of Lusail University, Prof. Nizam. The agreement took place in presence of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Lusail University, Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri; President of Qatar University, Dr. Hassan Rashid Al Derham, and other officials from both the institutions.

The agreement includes the exchange of faculty, registration of students in various courses, opportunities for students to conduct their research and take study courses being offered at both universities, access to attend conferences and research programmes, and holding joint seminars on topics of common interest.

It also includes cooperation in exchanging scientific publications, textbooks, and scientific materials for academic curricula, publications and periodicals. It also covers use of university libraries; training of academics, administrators and technicians, in addition to organising student activities such as sports, cultural, social, and cooperation in other possible areas of mutual interest.

Dr. Ali Bin Fetais Al Marri thanked and appreciated Qatar University, saying: 'Lusail University will be thankful to QU for providing us great services. QU is the first national university that spares no effort to provide adequate support to all educational institutions in Qatar.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Hassan Al Derham said, 'The signing of this memorandum comes within the framework of Qatar University's continuous endeavour to cooperate with all higher education institutions in Qatar as part of the university's responsibility towards society and importance of the role that private universities play in providing society with different competencies. Qatar University welcomes this constructive cooperation, which opens doors for students to explore educational and research fields.

Dr. Omar Al Ansari explained the importance of signing this agreement, stressing that Qatar University seeks to transfer its scientific and research expertise to national universities. He also added that the agreement includes more than one field which will give students opportunity to register and participate in joint courses.

Prof. Nizam said, 'We are gratified at the close relationship with Qatar University, as we look to build a long-term strategic relationship that aspires to achieve the vision and mission of both universities in all fields and making use of various resources available at both universities.

He noted the importance of this partnership for the students and thanked QU for this cooperation with Lusail University, which he said will contribute to achieve human development by providing education to students.
