W. Afghan firefight causes death to five senior Taliban militants


(MENAFN) According to a statement issued Saturday by a local government official Jilani Farhad, five pro-government militiamen were killed as Taliban militants attacked a village in Afghanistan's western Herat province on Friday night.

The official further detailed that the armed militants struck Hajji Salam village in the restive Adraskan district late Friday night and after killing five pro-government militiamen withdrew to their hideaways.

Without providing an exact figure, Farhad also proclaimed that the Taliban insurgents had sustained casualties in the firefight.

The Taliban group has not made any comment on the attack.
