São Paulo – The Arab Gulf country Oman has established a dress code for entering malls. According to news published on the online version of Times of Oman, entering these places with sleeveless shirts and shorts above the knee won't be allowed. The rules apply to both men and women.

The code was drawn up by the Municipal Council of Muscat, the country's capital, submitted to the Municipal Council, which will submit it to the Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court for approval. 'The terms of dressing modestly have not been specified in great detail, but must include covering the body from the shoulder to below the knee,' Qais bin Mohammed Al Ma'shari, the chairman of the Public Affairs Committee of the Municipal Council in the Governorate of Muscat, said.

According to him, wearing a veil is not included in the concept of dressing modestly, because of the multiculturalism, ideologies, and religious tolerance in Oman. The rules will be same for residents and Omanis. According to Ma'shari, they were drafted after the municipal committees as well as mall managers and shop owners received many complaints from members of the public about people not following proper dress codes.
