The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) said in its macroeconomic review that was published last Tuesday that it predicts the gross domestic product (GDP) of Belarus to drop 2.3 percent in 2020.
In the starting half of the current year, the Belarusian economy saw under difficult external economic conditions, and was severely impacted by a number of shocking events, such as the coronavirus outbreak.
Analysts predict a recovery to the pre-crisis level of output in the following 2021-2022, it said, saying that the production gap in this period is going to stay negative.
The inflation in Belarus is going to rise to 5.9 percent in 2020 from 4.7 percent recorded in 2019.
