A senior Zambian government official announced on Tuesday that the current electricity shortages in the country are going to be addressed by March of the following year 2021.
Minister of Energy Matthew Nkhuwa said that building a 750 megawatts power plant, the Kafue Gorge Lower, is going to aid in cushioning the power deficit in the country that is now at 810 megawatts.
He added that 150 megawatts are going to be commissioned at the end of October of 2020 as 150 megawatts more are going to be on board by December of 2020.
Speaking at a press briefing, he said that the remaining 450 megawatts are going to be added to the national grid by March of the following next year.
