Russian nuclear Rosatom to produce 10 percent of lithium marketplace by 2030

(MENAFN) Uranium One, an entity of Russia's state-owned nuclear energy company Rosatom, intends to start producing lithium by 2023, aiming between 9 percent and 10 percent of the global market by 2030.

Sergey Polgorodnik, general manager of combined Stock Co. TENEX, told a weekly in-house news publication "We are considering the acquisition of raw material assets overseas to integrate into global supply chains for final products such as batteries with localized production in Russia".

Uranium One has been vigorously looking for lithium resources in the last year. In October, it inked a memo of understanding with Canada's Wealth Minerals about acquiring up to a 51 percent interest in the company"s Atacama lithium scheme in northern Chile.
