The Cypriot Statistical Service (CyStat) said on Friday that the economy of the country declined 11.9 percent in the 2nd quarter of the current year over the coronavirus impacts in comparison to the same quarter in 2019.
CyStat said that "the implementation of precautionary measures and relevant decrees to address the negative consequences of COVID-19 disease had a direct impact on the Cyprus economy".
Adding that the economy "exhibited a slowdown during the first quarter of 2020 and a substantial decrease during the second quarter of 2020".
Saying that the measures that were imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus restricted citizens movement and shut down companies of certain economic activities.
