Algeria reports nine COVID-19 deaths, 521 infections


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS, Aug 9 (KUNA) -- Algerian Ministry of Health said Sunday that nine people died of COVID-19, while 521 others tested positive for the virus.
Dr. Jamal Forar, spokesman for the ministry's health committee tasked with monitoring and following up on the pandemic, told a news conference that total registered cases reached 35,214 and tally of deaths is now at 1,302 casualties.
He added that 423 people recovered from the virus to make the total recoveries up to 24,506, while 57 are still in ICUs. (end)
