Egypt confirms 676 new COVID-19 cases, 47 deaths


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, July 21 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday 676 new COVID-19 infections and 47 deaths as a result of the virus over the last 24 hours.
The overall infections and mortalities climbed to 89,078 and 4,399 respectively, the ministry's spokesman Khaled Mejahed said in a statement.
He noted that the total recoveries surged to 29,473, indicating that 549 people recovered during the same period.
Earlier in the day, Minister of Health Hala Zayed said that no new infections were reported in South Sinai and the Red Sea governorates in the last 24 hours for the first time since the first case was confirmed in Egypt. (end)
