(MENAFN) The army said on Sunday that a senior Iraqi army officer has died due to COVID-19.
A military report said Maj.-Gen Murad al-Rabi'e, leader of the infantry corps of the Iraqi army, died from coronavirus.
The report did not give any additional details.
Al-Rabi'e is the highest-ranking military officer to have died of the coronavirus in Iraq since the outburst hit the country in March.
According to its Health Ministry, Iraq has so far reported 75,194 cases, counting 3,055 deaths and 43,079 recoveries.
