Doha: The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), the global platform of the leading gas producing nations, will be bringing together authoritarian voices of the gas industry for its Annual Workshop on Promotion of Natural Gas Demand on 9 July 2020, via videoconference, from 9am to 12 noon (Doha time).
The workshop, now in its third edition, will be held with the participation of the Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea, H E Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima, the President of International Gas Union, Joe M Kang, the Executive Chairman of African Energy Chamber, N J Ayuk, the Chairman of Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), Magdy Galal, and Vice President LNG Marketing & Trading of Petronas, Shamsairi Mohd Ibrahim.
The Secretary General of the GECF, Yury Sentyurin, will be the event's host. The Annual Workshop on Promotion of Natural Gas Demand is a premier industry event and is designed to empower professionals and observers in the field of gas market to gain a deeper understanding of the market conditions and think collectively on the prospects of natural gas as the fuel of choice for sustainable development.
The guest speakers will utilise the platform to exchange ideas and share best practices in monetising natural gas in key markets and sectors. They will also touch on the complexities brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. This highly rated workshop epitomises the GECF ethos of cooperation, as is evident in the diverse line-up of speakers for the 2020 edition.
It also fulfils the Forum's Long-Term Strategy, which calls for promotion of natural gas as the fuel of choice. The GECF is materialising this part of its LongTerm Strategy by promoting natural gas' role in meeting future world energy needs, ensuring global sustainable development, and responding to environmental concerns, in particular with regard to climate change and access to cleaner energy for all.
The 2019 edition of the Promotion of Natural Gas Demand workshop was held with the support of Qatar University and gathered GECF partners, peers, counterparts, and academia.
