Jordan keen on protecting Lebanon, its people, says FM


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 2 (Petra)- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, received on Thursday his Lebanese counterpart, Dr. Nassif Hitti, at a meeting to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
Speaking during the meeting, Safadi stressed Jordan's solidarity with Lebanon in facing the Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences, and the two countries' keenness to increase cooperation and coordination in the economic, commercial and food security fields in a way that serves the common interests.
On the region, the duo reviewed the regional developments, foremost is the efforts made to block implementation of Israel's decision to annex occupied Palestinian lands and protect efforts to achieve a just peace based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Moreover, the two ministers discussed efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on the two countries, especially the refugee burden.
In joint press statements, Safadi said the Kingdom "always sees Lebanon as a brotherly country, and Amman follows with interest what is going on in Lebanon. Our constant concern is to protect Lebanon and its people, regardless of any political stances or any political considerations.""
