Coronavirus claims 81 more lives in Egypt


(MENAFN) According to a statement issued on Monday by the Egyptian Health Ministry, the most infectious coronavirus claimed 81 more lives across the North African nation, lifting the national death toll to 3,034 in the past 24-hour period.

Egyptian Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed declared that the country added in the meantime 1,503 new positive cases of the COVID-19, with the combined tally of confirmed cases reaching 69,814.

Based on the ministerial statement, the total number of patients who have walked out of the hospital after winning the battle against the most infectious disease has risen to 18,881, as 421 new recoveris were reported in the previous 24 hours.

The capital Cairo and the nearby provinces of Giza, Qalioubiya and Fayoum have the highest numbers of COVID-19 infections in Egypt, the minister added.
