Fatah embraces Hamas plea for accord to face occupation

(MENAFN) Palestinian group Fatah has embraced a plea by rival Hamas movement to close ranks to defy an Israeli plan to occupy parts of the occupied West Bank.

Fatah Secretary-General Jibril Rajoub said in a declaration on Sunday, "Fatah's hands are always extended for unity".

"Unity is a main pillar of the Palestinian national struggle, and it is impossible to resist the [Israeli] occupation, the U.S. deal of the century and annexation without it," he added.

On Saturday, Hamas called for solidification inter-Palestinian unity and implementing a nationwide plan "to undermine the conspiracies of annexation and deal of the century".
