Qatar participates in emergency meeting of Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Cairo: Qatar participated in an emergency session held by the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism to discuss Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and its negative impacts on all economic sectors, especially the tourism and travel sector in the Arab world.

HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League Ambassador Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al Sahlawi headed Qatar's delegation to the meeting that was held via video conferencing technology.

During the session, the Council discussed the situation of the Arab travel and tourism sector in light of the Coronavirus pandemic and its resulting impacts and losses as well as steps and measures that must be taken to confront and contain these impacts and accelerate the recovery and revitalization of this sector as soon as possible.

The event also discussed strengthening cooperation with the private sector to reduce the impact of the pandemic on the tourism and travel sector, maintain jobs, develop and train competencies working in it, and promote the use of modern technologies in training programs for workers in the tourism sector.
