Al Attiyah to vie for fourth title at 43rd Dakar Rally

Qatar's three-time Dakar Rally champion Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah will give another shot at the prestigious title during the 43rd edition of the competition.

Qatar News Agency (QNA) yesterday reported that the champion rally driver will compete at next year's event in Saudi Arabia.

Al Attiyah's French co-driver Matthieu Baumel had tweeted earlier, saying: " We are ready for next @ dakar and you ? @AlAttiyahN @matthieubaumel @TGReurope" The pair finished second behind Spanish driver Carlos Sainz Sr. In Saudi Arabia.

Next year's rally will begin on January 3 in Jeddah and conclude in the same coastal city 12 days later after 11 stages and a special stage that will determine the starting order for the opening special.

The event, launched in 1979 with its original route between Paris and the Senegalese capital Dakar, moved to Saudi Arabia this year after a decade in South America.
